Volunteers and Time Trials

Time Trials is this weekend!

As a reminder, time trials is essentially a practice meet where we capture seed times for our swimmers. Arrive at 8:15 to the pool, warmups start at 8:30, we'll begin at 9:00 and expect to wrap up between 11-12. If you haven't RSVPd yet, please do so ASAP (coming or not).

First off! Thanks to Britney Sutton who will again serve as our Volunteer Coordinator! She did a great job last season with getting our volunteers organized for our meets. Please feel free to reach out to either of us as the season gets rolling with volunteer-related questions.

Returning Families: You can now RSVP AND SIGN UP for volunteer positions for all of the meets, including time trials. Most shifts for time trials are for the entire meet because we'll go quickly. Please sign up by the end of Thursday of each week. You guys are a seasoned crew, always willing to help when asked. We know we can count on you to pull off another great swim team summer for our kids. Buckle up: with time trials and four home meets, we all have to band together. But hey, there are no other people I'd rather spend my summer Saturday mornings with!

New Families: Welcome to the crew!  Don't freak out about volunteering! It's a great way for introverts and extroverts alike to support our kids and get to know other parents. There are jobs for everyone and you can't mess up. This is not the Olympics. Time trials is our practice meet, so we shake out the cobwebs and get seed times for our swimmers. If you are feeling bold, sign up and we will teach you! If you're a little nervous, we'll walk you around and introduce you to parents and jobs. I plan to be at practices on Tuesday to answer any questions you have about using the app or volunteering.

Volunteer Opt-Out Families: Thank you for your donation to the team! You all have collectively donated $1,000, which we intend to use for the end of season banquet. We appreciate your support and if you ever want to take a shift, you are absolutely more than welcome!

A Note About Cuda Bar: Coordinating the Cuda Bar is a huge job, and thankfully, Katie Parker and Sara Thomas have agreed to take it on this year. They need our support! Do you have a favorite swim team snack that you wish was at the Cuda Bar? We are looking for culinary aficionados to share fun ideas for hot food items (like egg burritos). We also need help with the food prep. If this is something you would be interested in please contact Katie and Sara ([email protected], [email protected]) to brainstorm "Cuda Bar Crew" t-shirts, anyone? I know a girl with a Cricut.

Don't forget our Taharka Fundraiser! Place your order between Friday and Monday! Delivery next Thursday (June 20th) - right in time for our first pep rally on Friday! Order a case (8 pints) and the team gets $10.

Finally, I'd like to welcome Catalina Tobon, Elias Oriza (incorrectly identified as Victor in my last email) and Joe Ward to the team!

I know it's a wild time of year for all of us.  Hang in there, parents.
